Weekend Update 03-01-26

 

Hello, Carwise Middle School families.  This is Mr. Eiben, your principal, reaching out with your Weekend Update.   I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!

 

First, I want to congratulate our Ball Hockey Team who took home 1st place at yesterday's middle school hockey tournament in Pinellas Park.  Congrats players and coaches!  Also, congratulations to our Drone Team the Sharknadoes.  Team A won the teamwork competition and received the airmanship award. Also, Team C won the judge’s award. Congrats teams!

 

This week (and next) our Algebra, Geometry, Civics, and 8th Grade Science students will take their Cycle 3 Assessments.  These are the last assessments prior to the state tests at the end of the school year.  These are important in that they give us data points to ensure we know where remediation needs to occur prior to May.

 

Monday our Algebra and Geometry students will take their Cycle 3 Assessment.  Also, Monday, after school we will have ELP Tutoring & Credit Recovery in the media center until 5:20PM.  Please be sure to pick up your child in the car circle behind the school.  Additionally, the PCAC individual track finals will start at 3:30PM at Clearwater High.  Best of luck athletes!

 

Tuesday there will be the Choral Music Performance Assessments.  Best of luck to our singers!  Tuesday, after school we will have ELP Tutoring & Credit Recovery in the media center until 5:20PM.  Please be sure to pick up your child in the car circle behind the school. 

 

Wednesday morning, we will have ELP Tutoring & Credit Recovery in the Media Center at 8:20AM. Please drop off your child in front of the school at the main office.  Also, on Wednesday our 8th grade science students will take their Cycle 3 Assessment.  After school we will have Flag Football Intramurals - Skills & Drills until 5:30PM (must have participation form, insurance, and physical).  Please pick up students behind the school by the gym.

 

Thursday morning, we will have ELP Tutoring & Credit Recovery in the Media Center at 8:20AM. Please drop off your child in front of the school at the main office.  After school the Mighty Mu Math team will meet from 4:10 until 5:00PM. Please be sure to pick up your mathletes in front of the school by 5:05PM. 

 

Friday is our SPIFFs field trip. Have fun students!

 

Saturday, March 7th we will have a Drone Competition at Carwise Middle.  Best of luck Sharknadoes!

 

Flag football tryout will be March 9th, 10th, and 11th after school until 5:30PM each day.  Students should attend all three days, if possible.  Students interested in trying out need to turn in a current physical (dated within the past year), a participation form (attached), school insurance (link), and a 2.0 GPA.  All paperwork can be dropped off at the front office labeled Attn: Ms. Mudd/7th Grade Office.

Weekend Update 02-22-26

 

Hello, Carwise Middle School families.  This is Mr. Eiben, your principal, reaching out with your Weekend Update.   I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!

 

First, I want to start by thanking our wonderful families for their support of our NJHS Pasta & Sauce Food Drive.  As a school we collected over 500 items of food for the FEAST Food Pantry. Thank you, families!  Additionally, a big thank you to everyone for supporting our PTSA Kindness Fundraiser.  This program helped raise important funds to support our students and staff at Carwise.  Thank you so much!

 

Monday after school we will have ELP Tutoring & Credit Recovery in the media center until 5:20PM.  Please be sure to pick up your child in the car circle behind the school.  Also, Monday after school starting at 4:45PM will be Day 1 of Track Championships at Tarpon High School.  Tickets are $3 on GoFan (QR code attached).

 

Tuesday after school we will have ELP Tutoring & Credit Recovery in the media center until 5:20PM.  Please be sure to pick up your child in the car circle behind the school.  Also, Tuesday after school starting at 4:45PM will be Day 2 of Track Championships at East Lake High School.  Tickets are $3 on GoFan (QR code attached).

Thursday morning, we will have ELP Tutoring & Credit Recovery in the Media Center at 8:20AM. Please drop off your child in front of the school at the main office.  Also, the Thursday FBLA Tree Hoppers field trip has been postponed. Stay tuned for the rescheduled date. Thursday after school we will have Ball Hockey practice until 5:15PM.  Player pick-up will be behind the school.  Also, after school the Mighty Mu Math team will meet from 4:10 until 5:00PM.  Please be sure to pick up your mathletes in front of the school by 5:05PM. 

 

Friday, Mr. Allison’s students will take a field trip to the Museum of Fine Arts in St. Pete.  Friday is also the ECG/EKG testing for those who are registered.  These students will be called to the front office for this test.

 

Saturday, Feb. 28th will be the Ball Hockey Tournament at Sprowls Horizon Hockey Rink in Pinellas Park.  Games will begin at 12:00PM.  Best of luck Sharks!  Also, on Saturday, our Science Olympiad Team will compete.  Best of luck Olympiads!

Weekend Update 02-15-26

 

Hello, Carwise Middle School families.  This is Mr. Eiben, your principal, reaching out with your Weekend Update.   I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!

 

First, I want to start by congratulating Teagan Patterson who finished in 7th place at the Scripps Regional Spelling Bee that took place at USF in Tampa yesterday.  Regionals included nine counties and 60 participants.  Carwise Middle is extremely proud of Teagan!  Job well done!

 

Monday there will be no school for students as this is a District-Wide Training Day.  We look forward to welcoming our students back on Tuesday.

 

Tuesday after school we will have ELP Tutoring & Credit Recovery in the media center until 5:20PM.  Please be sure to pick up your child in the car circle behind the school.

Weekend Update 02-08-26

 

Hello, Carwise Middle School families.  This is Mr. Eiben, your principal, reaching out with your Weekend Update.   I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!

 

Monday we will kick off our PTSA Kindness Fundraiser.  It will only take 10 minutes or less to register for the fundraiser AND you don’t need to purchase anything!  This is the only PTSA fundraiser this school year.  Please help support our PTSA as they provide so much for our students and staff.  Be on the lookout for fundraiser Boarding Pass flyer to get started.  After school on Monday, we will have ELP Tutoring & Credit Recovery in the media center until 5:20PM.  Please be sure to pick up your child in the car circle behind the school.

Weekend Update 02-01-26

 

Hello, Carwise Middle School families.  This is Mr. Eiben, your principal, reaching out with your Weekend Update.   I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!

 

Frist, I want to congratulate our Guys Read team!  They finished in 2nd place at yesterday's district Guys Read competition!  Well done guys!

 

Next, we have another chilly week in store for us.  Please have students dress warmly but have them leave their blankets at home.  Also, please have PE students bring warm weather gear for going outside.  

 

Monday morning, the NJHS has chapter meeting at 8:50AM in room 2-110 with Ms. Himmel.  Also, after school on Monday we will have ELP Tutoring & Credit Recovery in the media center until 5:20PM.  Please be sure to pick up your child in the car circle behind the school.

Friday our Student Entrepreneurship Academy (SEA) students will be on a field trip to Disney.  Enjoy!  Also, Friday, students will receive their Quarter 3 mid-point progress reports.  Please be sure to review these with your child.  Students must pass all four core academic classes to be promoted to the next grade level. 

 

Saturday our drone team, the Sharknadoes, will be competing in a competition in Boca Raton.  Best of luck, team!

Weekend Update 01-25-26

 

Hello, Carwise Middle School families.  This is Mr. Eiben, your principal, reaching out with your Weekend Update.   I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!

 

Our National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is sponsoring a Pasta & Sauce (only) food drive to benefit FEAST food pantry.  FEAST provides to those in need in our community.  Students can bring donations to their 1st period enrichment class starting January 26th through February 12th.  The class with the most donated items will receive a cookie party (flyer attached).

 

Monday we will have ELP Tutoring & Credit Recovery in the media center until 5:20PM.  Please be sure to pick up your child in the car circle behind the school. 

 

Tuesday students will take part in a Resiliency Lesson about Suicide Prevention Awareness during 1st period.  Please talk with your child about the importance of this lesson. Also, Tuesday after school we will have ELP Tutoring & Credit Recovery in the media center until 5:20PM. Please be sure to pick up your child in the car circle behind the school.

Monday we will begin collecting money for the 8th grade Gradventure field trip.  We will collect money before school in the cafeteria as well as during B and C lunches. Tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis.  Please be sure to review the Gradventure forms and sign both sides of the permission slip.  Also, after school on Monday we will have ELP Tutoring in the media center until 5:20PM. Please be sure to pick up your child in the car circle behind the school.

Weekend Update 01-04-26

 

Hello, Carwise Middle School families.  This is Mr. Eiben, your principal, reaching out with your Weekend Update.  I hope everyone is having a wonderful winter break and a great holiday season!  Happy New Year!  Classes will resume tomorrow.

 

Monday before school, we will have an NJHS meeting at 8:50AM in Room 2-109.  Please drop off your child in front of the school at the main office.  Monday during 1st period students will receive new schedules.  Many students will have new schedules as we are now in Quarter 3/Semester 2 which will mean new classes.  Also, we have adjusted many of our 1st period Enrichment/Shark Time classes based on student interests and student needs.  Also, on Monday all interested 8th graders will receive Gradventure information and permission slips.  Please be sure to carefully read ALL the trip information.  Tickets will go on sale on Monday, January 12th before school and during B & C Lunches.  Additionally, after school on Monday we will have ELP Tutoring in the media center until 5:20PM.  Please be sure to pick up your child in the car circle behind the school.

Winter Break Update 12-20-25

 

Hello, Carwise Middle School families.  This is Mr. Eiben, your principal, reaching out with a Winter Break Update.  I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying some time off with family and friends.

 

First, I want to start by thanking our students, families, and staff members for supporting our Spirit of Giving Week.  As a school we collected 295 items for those in need.  Thank you all so much for your willingness to support our community!

 

Next, I want to remind everyone about the Middle School Winter Break Challenge.  Students can access the Winter Break Challenge through Clever.  This is a great way to stay academically engaged. So, when your kiddo says they are bored, there are lots of educational opportunities to keep them active. Rewards will be given to our top performers for each content area. 

 

When we return from winter break, we will have track & field tryouts on January 7, 8, and 9, after school until 5:20PM.  Please pick up students behind the school by 5:30PM.  Students should attend all three days.  See the attached flyer below for more details/requirements.  Students must have a current physical (dated within the past year), a participation form (attached), school insurance (link), and a 2.0 GPA.  All paperwork can be dropped off at the front office labeled Attn: Ms. Mudd/7th Grade Office.  Best of luck athletes!

Weened Update 12-14-25

 

Hello, Carwise Middle School families.  This is Mr. Eiben, your principal, reaching out with your Weekend Update.  I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!

 

This week we will start midterms.  Please help us ensure your child has their fully charged computer and their computer charger for testing.  Attached below is our testing calendar for the month of December as well as our bell schedule for this week.

 

Also, this week we will have a Spirit Week and a Spirit of Giving Week! Please help us ensure students are within PCS dress code.  The only exception will be on Friday (pajama day).  Also, please help us collect items for those in need in our community.

 

Monday students will take their period 2 and 3 midterms.  Also, Monday our Spirit of Giving Week dress up theme is Holiday Hats and Headbands Day.  We are also collecting NEW gloves and hats to donate to Pinellas Hope for the Homeless (10 shark bites for each item donated).  Monday after school we will have ELP Tutoring in the media center until 5:20PM.  Please be sure to pick up your child in the car circle behind the school. 

 

Tuesday students will take their period 4 and 5 midterms.  Also, Tuesday our Spirit of Giving Week dress up theme is Holiday or Silly Socks Day.  We are also collecting NEW socks for the FBLA Sock Drive (5 shark bites for each item donated).  Additionally, on Tuesday we will again have ELP Tutoring in the media center until 5:20PM. Please be sure to pick up your child in the car circle behind the school.  Also, Tuesday evening will be our Winter Band Concert at 7:00PM at East Lake High School. Don’t miss out!

 

Wednesday students will take their period 6 and 7 midterms.  Also, Wednesday our Spirit of Giving Week dress up theme is Ugly Holiday Sweaters Day (contest at each lunch).  We are also collecting NEW blankets to donate to Pinellas Hope for the Homeless (10 shark bites for each item donated).  Additionally, Wednesday morning, we will again have ELP Tutoring at 8:20AM.  ELA/History ELP will be in room 6-100 and Math/Science ELP will be in room 6-103.  Please drop off your child in front of the school at the main office. 

 

Thursday students will take their period 8 midterm.  Also, Thursday our Spirit of Giving Week dress up theme is Grinch or Holiday Character T-Shirts Day.  We are also collecting bags of individually wrapped candy to donate to our Shark Store (10 shark bites for each item donated).  Additionally, Thursday morning, we will again have ELP Tutoring at 8:20AM.  ELA/History ELP will be in room 6-100 and Math/Science ELP will be in room 6-103.  Please drop off your child in front of the school at the main office. 

 

Friday will be a normal bell schedule, and we will conduct makeup exams for midterms, FAST, and Cycle 2 assessments.  Also, Friday our Spirit of Giving Week dress up theme is Pajama Day.  Friday will be our final day of the Holiday Shark Bite Store for students to get holiday gifts for family and friends.  Friday is also the last day of the Quarter 2 grading period. Please be sure to review your child’s grade in Focus and encourage them to turn in all missed assignments.  Thank you!

First, I want to congratulate our Drone Team, the Sharknadoes, on their performance at yesterday’s Sunshine State Drone Expo and Competition.  Our team brough back four trophies for Coding, Communication, Judges Award, and Airmanship!  Congratulations Sharknadoes!

 

This week we will resume our second set of state and district assessments. Please help us ensure your child has their fully charged computer and their computer charger for testing. Attached below is our testing calendar for the month of December.

 

Monday Mr. Little’s, Ms. Spratlin’s, and Mrs. Vehar’s students will take their FAST PM 2 Reading assessments.  Also, Monday after school we will have ELP Tutoring in the media center until 5:20PM.  Please be sure to pick up your child in the car circle behind the school.
